MISSION :: HOW TO APPLY :: 2008 GRDF SCHEDULE :: ABOUT 2008 ARTISTS & PREVIOUS PERFORMERS

WHAT DOES GRDF PROVIDE THE ARTIST?

We are a small organization with a small budget. We provide a modest artist's fee, housing (typically staying with a local family), modest travel funds, publicity, and technical personnel to run lights and sound. GRDF also provides the opportunity to network with dance artists from NYC, DC, MD, WV, and elsewhere. Finally, GRDF gives artists the opportunity to perform for very appreciative audiences in a fun and beautiful small town.

The performance space is an informal one. It is a high-ceilinged room without wings or crossover. There is a marley floor over a wood floor. We are unable to accommodate aerial work or very large sets. Lights are basic and minimal (12 lights).

Participating artists arrive on Wednesday with tech rehearsals on Wednesday evening and Thursday. A dress rehearsal, which is open for children, takes place on Friday morning. Concerts are held on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon of each weekend. GRDF also offers classes -- taught by GRDF performers -- throughout the four-day period of each weekend. Artists interested in teaching should send information about class topics (ie, technique, partnering, improvisation, class for kids, etc.). We offer classes for children and adults, so please keep that in mind when proposing a class topic. An additional fee is provided for teaching.
