FROM WASHINGTON, DC/BALTIMORE:
Travel Time: approximately 90 minutes.

I-270 North or I-70 West to Frederick. Follow signs for I-70 West and to Route 340 West twds. Charles Town/Harpers Ferry. Follow Route 340 past Harpers Ferry to Route 230 North to Shepherdstown. Stay on 230 into Shepherdstown -- pass O'Hurley's General Store on the right, cross the train tracks, and take the next right onto Princess Street. At the stop sign, go left onto German Street. The War Memorial Building is about halfway up the street on the left, at King Street.

FROM NYC:
Travel Time: approximately 5 hours

Holland Tunnel to I-78 West. Stay on I-78 into Pennsylvania and merge onto I-81 South. At Hagerstown, Maryland, take I-70 East to Route 65 twds. Sharpsburg/Antietam Battlefield. Take Route 65 to Sharpsburg. At Sharpsburg, take a right onto Route 34. Take Route 34 across the Potomac River into Shepherdstown. At the 4-way stop, take a left onto German Street. The War Memorial Building is about halfway down the street on the right, at King Street.

FROM WINCHESTER, VA & POINTS SOUTH:
Travel time from Winchester: approximately 45 minutes

Take I-81 to Martinsburg and exit at Route 9/Queen Street East. Follow Queen Street past shopping centers and turn left onto Route 45 (Moler Avenue) to Shepherdstown. At 4-way stop, go straight onto German Street. The War Memorial Building is about halfway down the street on the right, at King Street.

FROM OTHER PLACES IN WV:
From I-68/Morgantown, go east towards Cumberland, MD. When I-68 ends, continue east on I-70 to Hagerstown, MD. Exit at Route 65 -- Sharpsburg/Antietam Battlefield. Take Route 65 to Sharpsburg. At Sharpsburg, take a right onto Route 34. Take Route 34 across the Potomac River into Shepherdstown. At the 4-way stop, take a left onto German Street. Shepherdstown, WV, in the state's Eastern Panhandle, is approximately 75 miles northwest of Washington, DC and about 5 hours from NYC. It is a small, historic, and vibrant community that also hosts the Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University during the month of July. The town is situated on the Potomac River, and many recreational and historic sights such as Antietam Battlefield, Harpers Ferry, the C&O Canal, and the Appalachian Trail are nearby.
